WHY IT'S CALLED OLD COLLEGE
A NAME WITH A STORY
Old College Road takes its name from Rutersville College, the first Methodist and Protestant college in Texas. Chartered in 1840 and granted four leagues of land by the Republic of Texas, it educated more than 800 students in the young state's earliest days.
Three historical markers in Rutersville still tell its story, and Old College Acres carries the name forward.
